3% Stamp Duty Refund from Sale of Second home

Postby loopysilvette » Thu Apr 27, 2017 1:52 pm

Hi,

My partner and I bought our home together in June 2016 whilst I kept my first home. We were subjected to the 3% stamp duty but I am now in the process of selling my first home so will no longer have a second home and because Im withing the 3 years I should be entitled to the refund.
Any ideas how I claim this refund? Do I need to use a solicitor? My current conveyancer didnt want to know anything about it and suggested I contact the solicitor who dealt with the purchase of second home- but I really dont want to use him again!

Presumably your former dwelling was your main/sole residence at some time in the 3 years prior to June 2016?

There is no requirement to use a solicitor.
