Acquisition tax when trading with EU

Postby lukasyno82 » Mon Jan 16, 2017 9:24 am

Hi,

I'm new to this forum :)

I have a ltd company ( VAT registered) that is trading with EU.

I have couple of suppliers in the EU with VAT numbers and clients in EU with VAT numbers.

Most of the time my suppliers are shipping goods to Poland or Germany where I or my friend sends it to other EU country.

Example :

We buy goods from Italy (VAT registered), supplier from italy sends it to Poland and then we send it to our customer in Belgium (VAT registered).

How do I fill in the VAT return ?? as it says on HMRC online that I need to pay acquisition tax and can reclaim it ???

Pleas advice.

Hi Lukas

It sounds like there are 2 movements of goods so triangulation would likely not apply. Have you assessed whether you need to VAT register in PL/DE as you appear to be acquiring goods in those countries and then dispatching them to other EU member states.

Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard,

Thanks for answering.

As far as I know Im not eligible to register for VAT in Poland or Germany.

I've asked HMRC, so I will inform you about the outcome.

Thanks for your help .
