adding a name to a title deed

Postby valeverson » Wed Apr 13, 2016 1:57 pm

Hi my dad is age 91 and a widower he jointly owned his property with his wife my mum who died in 1991 leaving no will, the property passed to my dad as the surviving partner.
I am an only child and my dad has left a will naming me as the beneficiary.
However he has got it into his head that he wants to add my name to the title deed.
I live in social housing and am in receipt of state pension and a small works pension totaling about 800 per month and receive some Housing benefit towards my rent.
Is there any benefit to my name being added, or will it just complicate things. I cant seem to shake him from this.
any help appreciated

Of the face of it you would part own the house (not your home) and this would be an asset (capital, like savings) and therefore might impact your entitlement to benefits
