Bringing money onshore

Bringing money onshore

Postby padbug on Thu Oct 20, 2011 4:54 pm

Hi,
I am recently the beneficiary of a US trust which now does not exist since my father died. The money is currently in a stock portfolio in USA so I am sure there will be some capital gains there if I sell the stock.
I would like to bring the money onshore, what taxes might I encounter bringing the money into the UK?
Thank you

The is no CGT based on your fethers ownership, if there has been no significant gain since the DOD there will be no CGT and it is an inheritance so bringing it to the UK is not an issue. Check the US situation. Regards Peter
