CGT disposal in commercial property

Postby duf » Sun Dec 11, 2016 11:35 pm

Hi all,

Commercial property was purchased as joint tenant, other half want to dispose her share, there is gain made in property as overall due to rise in property price.

When property was purchased, there where cost involved:

1) stamp duty land tax
2) solicitors dealing with purchase
3) improvment costs associated with doing work in property for keeping property in good shape of functionality

There will be probably other costs that I am not aware which will be offseted against the gain.

Can all those costs above split in 50% and offset against 50% gain as only other joint tenant is disposing her 50% share?

Thanks

Yes, half of costs apply to each owner.
With a pinch of salt take what I say, but don't exceed your RDA
