Claiming for costs of catering on film set

Claiming for costs of catering on film set

Postby stripemedia on Fri Sep 02, 2011 4:38 pm

We have sent our first set of figures to our accountant to file our company tax return. We do a lot of film shoots and part of this requires catering for the crew. Our accountant is querying this saying it is actually entertainment and cannot be put down as an expense.
I know this cannot be the case but wanted to know if there is any information on this. On a film set you are typically required to stay on set and will often be at an obscure location. Providing food is always part of any film shoot and expected by all the crew. Often the client is on the set too and will eat with the crew. We would expect that all of these costs were part of the budget of making a film and not to be treated otherwise. Can anyone clarify? Thanks

Is this a van with bacon rolls and coffees, or is it caviar and champagne on tap?

Standard catering. Think motorway services hot food but a bit better - About £15 per person for lunch

Doesn't sound like entertaining to me.
