class 4 nic exemption backdate ?

class 4 nic exemption backdate ?

Postby billyg on Sat Jan 09, 2010 5:19 pm

I am in pernership with my wife in a business neither of us work in (we just employ staff)
It looks to me like we should be exempt from paying class 4 ni , if thats correct should i contact the revenue and see if i can backdate that, if so how many years ?

also i understand we can split the profits however we decide , so my wife gets most of it and I get £1, will that cause any problems ?

You're in business, so you're liable to Class 2/4 NICs. If one of you is a sleeping partner then that person may be exempt.
You can split profits in any ratio you like.
With a pinch of salt take what I say, but don't exceed your RDA
