Discretionary Trust definitions

Discretionary Trust definitions

Postby centac on Thu Oct 06, 2011 11:13 pm

Hello

Can anybody tell me what the difference is between a DT and a DT for vulnerable people, or signpost me to somewhere appropriate.

Also, what expenditures can be made or are permissible from the latter fund.

Thanks

The tax treatment differs. A if a beneficiary is deemed to be vulnerable, gains and income are treated as belonging to them so far as ongoing taxation in the trust is concerned, rather than the normal higher rates for discretionary trrusts. HMRC has some very clear pages on this.
