EBT Rules for UK Citizen Living in US

Postby kingrizla on Thu Oct 26, 2006 6:58 pm

Hello,

I'm a UK citizen employed in California by the US subsiduary of a UK based company (for which I used to work in London). The UK company is intending to establish an offshore-EBT and has offered to make payments into a sub-trust in my family's name in recognition of my contribution to the success of the company. Will this be regarded as taxable income in the US, and what are the pitfalls I should be aware of?

Many thanks!

You need specialist advice as this is way too complex for the forum.

Depends on your US tax status.

I would generally speaking not recommend that a US person is the beneficiary of any non-US trust.

Take specific advice.
