Enhanced Capital Allowances

Postby despearate den on Wed May 25, 2005 7:26 am

I am aware that full 100% capital allowances are claimable on low emission cars and electric cars without the 12,000 restriction.

If i am employed and use my car for buisnees use are these alloowances available to me, adjusted for private use Say 90% b.u in first year and a lower amount thereafter.

No i don't think so. CA for employees on car expenditure withdrawn effectve 6th April 2002. See 36 CAA 2001 substituted by FA 2001 section 59.

Authorised mileage allowances should be available.

From 2002-03 onwards, use of one's car for business purposes attracts a mileage allowance only.

The IR tax-free rates are 40p for the first 10,000 miles and 25p thereafter - irrespective of engine type or size.
