Thanks for the information. Our accountant has told us he knows a floor manager at the tax office and that the tax inspectors are actually on bonusses for all they can find? True?

This is not true. When it was HMCE they never even used to pay a 'bonus' really - except to the top execs of course, who couldn't care if the tax inspectors were collecting tax or sciving off (providing they met their KPIs).

So no ignore this rubbish. Can you imagine the public outcry first and then the spurious assessments that would be raised under such a system.

Generix - HMR&C and Inland Revenue started paying bonuses about 15 years ago stopped them and then restarted them however they have never been very much and certainly not enough to affect any single investigators attitude to life.
