Film Industry Worker

Postby CG on Wed Jan 25, 2012 9:57 pm

I have a client who is a costume designer and she has given me payslips with employee and employer NI deducted but no PAYE.

Is this because the 7 day rule has been applied (each payslip was for only a few days) and is she therefore an employee for each job?

My client insists she is self employed and has given me alot of expenses. I don't see how I can offset these if all earnings were employed?

I'd be grateful if anyone can help me here?

My main question, if anyone can help, is:

Is this income definitely employed income due to the type of NI deducted - her tax code was NT and NI category A.

I know sometimes in this industry payslips are incorrectly issued with NT coding to self employed people, but in this case the NI makes me think I cannot take it as self employed.

I don't think a P45 was issued no - just payslips each time she was paid.
