Gold Jewellery Benefits

Postby BD2005 on Mon Feb 07, 2005 2:17 am

Please can anybody help.
A few years ago a scheme was being branded about whereas a company would buy gold jewellery and then distribute it to directors as a benefit in kind. Tax would be paid on the BIK, but the point of the scheme was to avoid paying Er's NIC.
At present the scheme is being challenged by the IR and it is in the process of going to court.
Does anybody have any advice on how to avoid the NIC should the case be won by the IR.

If you have knowledge of the scheme I'd be interested in hearing from you.

I worked for a Big 4 accountants when we were putting in some of these schemes, (platinum sponge, gold bullion, fine wines, etc.)

I am familiar with them so if you would like to discuss, please contact me
