What about the insurance and other van costs the difference is much more than £140?
I do see what you mean though with it only being in this year so the mileage allowance might be the best option for future years eventhough my income now is less than it was last year

My estimate of £140 was based on mileage v. total costs.
If you have a declining profit profile, 5 April/31 March 2011 might not be the optimum year end. But that might be too complex to deal with?
