Higher rate Stamp Duty

Postby Cookie73 » Mon Feb 27, 2017 11:40 pm

We are a British family who have lived abroad for the last 15 years, but returning to the UK this year. We currently have no main family residence but own 2 buy to let properties. We will be looking to buy our first main residence when we return to the UK but as we already own 2 buy to let properties will we be required to pay the higher rate stamp duty?

Yes, the 3% SDLT charge will apply.

Prior to your departure from the UK did you not own a family home?
