How do you prove a PET

If my parents give me £150000 and then die 7 years later, no IHT is payable provided i can prove it was a PET but how do you prove it?
Is a letter setting out their intentions and witnessed by a solicitor sufficient or the right thing to do?

Any transfer of funds from a parent to their offspornig is, by definition, a PET. You do not need to prove it. You may need to prove when the transfer was made to make sure it is outside the 7 year rule.
