How to get a VAT repayment without a UK bank account

A UK incorporated company submits a VAT return and is due a rebate. However, it does not have a bank account in the UK.

Can it still set up a direct debit with its non-UK bank account?

If HMRC issues a cheque, can the company bank the cheque at its non-UK bank account?

How can the company get the VAT back? I guess it can use its UK agent's bank account. Are there any alternatives?

I would hazard a guess at using an agent of the companies account as being the easiest.
As far as I know the alternatives would require a lot of time or money.

I am a little confused as to how a UK company can survive without a UK bank account.

HMRC will make repayments to non-UK banks, although they usually issue a charge (from memory).
