IHT COMPLIANCE CHECK

HI

i have just received a letter from HMRC regarding a compliance check on the IHT 400 i have submitted

what does this mean? Is there something wrong? I do have back ups for most of the figures on the form

what would they check? could someone please advise

Hi Gregory

It could be both. Unfortunately they may have spotted something that does not seem to look correct or it may just be a general check. As long as you have back up to the figures you have used, you should have nothing to worry about.

i do have back up for the figures but i did come in quite near to the nil band rate......could they be checking for this reason

do you know anyone whi has had these checks?

Hi Gregory

That would definately be a reason they would look into it.

I have a couple of clients whom have had recieved similar letters and after verfying the documentation all were passed fine.
