import of goods

I am looking to import upvc windows to the uk on a regular basis from a non eu country,and to start of with i know i will not earn more then 30k a year could you tell me if i have to be vat registerd or could i do it as self employed.thanks

You would not need to be VAT registered until your annual turnover reached £60k per annum.

If you were supplying your windows to VAT registered businesses in the UK then it may be worth your while to register early but if you are selling to the general public then it would probably be best to delay registration for as long as possible.

You can indeed trade as self-employed although with a profit of £30k it may be beneficial for you to operate as a limited company.
