Income earned abroad

Postby Yiannis17 » Sun May 14, 2017 10:14 pm

Hello. I have a situation whereby a Uk resident who travels to France for work gets paid by the French company into his UK bank account. Is my understanding correct in that he declares the income the UK and the associated tax credit?

If he remains resident in the UK despite working in France then he is exposed to UK income tax on the income. If he becomes non-UK resident then the income is not subject to UK income tax.

Whether he has an exposure to French tax will depend upon whether he becomes French resident or if not and remains UK resident the DTA provisions.
