Income tax for rental income for owner in nursing home

Postby wpun@mac.com on Wed Aug 31, 2005 11:28 am

My mother requires 24 hours care and has been staying in a nursing home since June last year. We have rent her house out to fund for her nursing care. Since all the rental income contributes to her nursing care completely, I just wonder whether she will need to pay for income tax etc.

I could be wrong but I don't think there are any tax reliefs for nursing care fees paid.

If so, rental income may be liable to tax depending on other personal income and allowances.
