Another question I'm afraid.

Can the costs of applying for probate in IOM be included on IHT400 and then deducted from the value of my grandmother's estate? For example could it be included as other liabilities in box 82? Or is it just an expense associated with dealing with the estate? I know it won't make a huge difference in terms of IHT owed but a few pounds here and there all adds up.

Thanks

Wendy

Hopefully a lawyer can answer that question for you. There a few good ones on here. It is rather simple to apply yourself though. You need to contact the Probate and Tribunals Office in Douglas, Isle of Man. They can send you the forms and guide on how to complete them. I'd do that first and get a lawyer if your overwhelmed.

Yes, the costs are deductible in arriving at the deceased's estate for IHT purposes.
