Is my drink VAT rated?

Postby fatsheep on Thu Nov 16, 2006 11:12 am

Hi, We distribute a non alcoholic ginger "wine". As well as being a drink some people would claim beneficial properties for the ginger element(good for sickness, colds etc). Is it obvious what VAT rate shops should charge? Is there a procedure for finding this out?
Thanks for reading my question any help for this newby would be appreciated.

It would seem to be standard rated.

If you feel it should be zero rated, I suggest you obtain written confirmation from HMRC.
