NI contributions after 65

NI contributions after 65

Postby ancientgeek on Mon Jul 18, 2011 4:19 pm

I have a friend who is 88 and has a small company trading in antiques. He told me that he still pays NI contributions as he is a company director!! Am I right in thinking that these contributions finish at age 65.
When I was 66 and took on a job, I can remember getting an exemption certificate which I sent into the company I was working for and so didn't have any NI deductions.
I would be grateful if anyone can confirm my suspicions.
Thanks a lot,

Mike

No employee contributions are payable after 65, but employer contributions continue indefinitely, if the salary is high enough.
Sounds like your friend could do with some advice!
