NIC when commuting overseas

NIC when commuting overseas

i worked overseas on an equal time commuting (month overseas/month off in UK) contract from January 2002 until December 2006 and was paying the same NIC contributions as i would have been in UK, i have been told i may be able to claim this back, does anyone here know anything on this?

I'm no expert on this, but my instinct tells me the most likely answer is:

1. It's too long ago now to claim, and in any case
2. You're maybe better off in the end having the contribution years on your record.
