Norwegian taxation on UK company and personel

Norwegian taxation on UK company and personel

Postby alan1234 on Wed Oct 26, 2011 4:46 pm

Hi

I work for a UK company and i am a british citizen living in the UK, i am paid in the UK and i pay UK taxes under PAYE.

The company i work for sells products into the Norwegian continental shelf and Norwegian mainland. This business has included for installation services which i carry out.

The accrued period working in Nowary over a given year is probably around 40 days or less and would comprise of a number of trips.

I have received over the last 3 years tax assessment notices however we have never offered to the Norwegian tax office any payment advice. The forms therefore show assessed tax and amount due as Zero.

I have a tax deduction card with table 7150 indicating 48% payable.

My problem and the problem for my company is we have no experiance filling out the Noregian tax forms. We have tried to use professional accountants however we do not appear to be dealing with this issue very well.

We are aware of the double tax treaty but have not been able to get this message accross.

Can you please offer personal and also business advice on the best method to clear up this taxation issue.

Thank you.

Hi Alan,

Whilst not addressing your specific question, you may like to read PWC's Norwegian tax guide for international assignees which you can access through the useful links section of the website below. It does make reference to the 183 day rule (paragraph 49) and I suggest you show this to the accountant in Norway to see whether tax exemption under the UK/Norway Double Tax Treaty might be permissible.

Kind Regards

Hi Etff

Sorry for the late response, i think we have now found an accountancy firm that know the ropes in Norway and will hopefully guide us out this mess.
