overseas job

Postby salbrfc23 on Mon Dec 26, 2011 6:49 pm

Hi, I have two jobs, one as a bartender where I earn around 500-700 per month after tax. I am currently on the correct tax code 747L W1. However I have a 2nd job as a football scout from a foreign company and will be receiving my first pay middle of January. I should receive 300euros with 100 of that being travel reimbursement so around 200euros actually being paid employment. How do I tax myself on that 200euros? Should I wait till the end of tax year and file a self assessment tax form? Because I have my bartender job I'm confused as to what I should do, any help would be appreciated!

How often will you receive €300 (BTW, the taxable income is €300 from which you deduct/claim for allowable expenses)? If it is regular and will add up to a moderate sum each year, then yes you will need to complete a self assessment return at the end of each year.

Thanks for the swift reply, the income would be every month. So in estimation they would pay me around 3500 to 4000 euros in a year,

Basically for the next months pay, I will have done four jobs, worth 50euros each. Therefore 200euros altogether. After that, providing I prove it I am reimbursed with an extra 126euros or near that amount.

How much do you reckon I would pay in tax?
When completing me self assessment tax form do I give them details of my first job and how much I earn and how much I am taxed.

Thanks again for the help.

If you stay below the higher rate threshold then you will pay additional tax at 20%.

You put everything on a self assessment return. Employment pages for your first job, showing income received and tax deducted. Are you self-employed in your second job? If so, you complete the self employment pages showing all income (including expenses) and deductions (expenses etc) to arrive at net profit. You are then taxed on your total income, but tax deducted from your UK employment is taken into account in working out the total tax due for the year.
