Paying VAT to property agents

Postby laurencej » Mon Mar 06, 2017 8:44 am

Hi, I have an odd question.

I live in British guy who now lives in Asia and rent out a house in the UK, my income is not subject to any deductions from the tax office and I am being charged VAT by the agents on the management fee. Do I need to pay this? I ask because my solicitor - not a tax or property one - did not charge me VAT as I don't live in the UK.

Surely like when I buy goods in the UK for export I claim back the VAT I can do the same for the rental income fee?

Kind Regards
