NI record "Tax Year under investigation"

Postby eb321 » Mon Aug 01, 2016 10:12 am

Hope someone might know what this means please.
My wife moved to the UK in Dec 2012 and registered self-employed in July 2013. She's been self-employed ever since.
She recently requested her NI record for ID purposes with a bank.
All looks ok, except it says under the notes for 2013-14 that "Tax Year Under Investigation"
Is this just the NI part that is under investigation, or can we expect a full inspection for that year?
Thanks

Hi,

Did you ever resolve this? I have just requested an NI printout and have the same for 1997-98. Eighteen years down the line not sure what I'll be able to remember!

Thanks

Just wondering if you ever got this sorted - I am in exactly the same situation. I also requested NI contribution record which marks 1997 as under investigation. What should I expect? Thanks.

I suspect that it means being investigated internally to verify/confirm NI contributions, rather than an investigation into your affairs generally.
