I bought my UK house in 2005 for £190,000. I later moved to France, working as a UK civil servant until I retired in 2014, keeping the property as my main residence. Then in Dec 2014 I bought a house jointly in France with my French partner and this was declared to be my main residence to the French tax authorities.

I am now thinking of letting my UK house. My questions are:
