We are postulating on the actual scenario. The instalmets would need to be 18 months apart. That could possibly happen, but half of the consideration received in the first year is likely to be more than the actual liabilty, so instalments will not apply.

Also the whole idea is to save tax. Paying in instalments will not acheive it.

I think you can do a nil-gain nil-loss transfer between spouses and then you would both be eligible for the £11,100
