I am part of a small community group who live on a unadapted private road. We are setting up a fund as the road surface is very bad and we need to tarmac the road. The cost of this around £20,000 which is very expensive. Is there anyway we could Claim the vat back?

If the project is linked with a Parish Council or local authority, there may be a way of arranging the transaction to be VAT-free. But, unless you are otherwise registered for VAT, you cannot claim VAT back.
