Personal Tax on a million pound?

Hi All,

If someone was to receive e.g a Million pounds due to a project, work or receive through different legitimate reasons into there personal account what would the tax be? I have heard different figures from 45% to 52.5%

Anyone shed some light

50%. Half a million.
