Hi, I have recently been asked by two individuals to complete their tax returns. They operate a small laundry business together. Should they be registered as a partnership, with a partnership return completed as well as both their personal tax returns? If they do need to be registered as a partnership, can you submit a partnership return using the HMRC online software or do you need to download/buy other software? Thanks.

Yes, the partnership must have its own UTR and complete returns signed by the nominated partner.
The partners can be filed on the gateway but you will need commercial software to file the partnership return

Thanks for the response. I'm only starting out trying to build up some clients, mostly from home. Is there a software you would recommend that's doesn't cost the earth. Thanks.
