Fixed Protection Query

Postby Dave-A » Wed Jun 14, 2017 5:10 pm

Technical question for an expert who knows his stuff !

If an employee has death in service (DIS) cover with a company scheme which is not an excepted scheme, then any proceeds counts towards the lifetime allowance.

If an employee had fixed and/or enhanced protection, which was established after they became eligible to DIS benefit, would a change to the DIS insurer (which resulted in a new trust deed being established, but not a change to the level of benefit), change the validity of the enhanced protection ?

An employee suggests it would, but surely this means that any company which negotiates better DIS terms with another insurer presents a big problem to any affected employees !

Regards
