VAT invoices

Postby JPB2017 » Wed Jul 19, 2017 10:16 am

Situation

Two limited companies are within the same VAT group and hence share the same VAT reg. number.

In terms of the invoice as we know one of the legal requirements is to show the company name or trading name and address.

The address of both is the same so this isn't an issue.

For simplicity let say that company names are ABC North Ltd and ABC South Ltd. Is it possible just to have the name showing as say ABC and perhaps have on the invoice both logos or does the invoice need to specify North or South? For reference the system will account for the sales in the right companies so the accounting will be correct.

Thanks in advance

The legislation simply says 'name and address of supplier.'
If the two companies share a trading name, then that will suffice for VAT purposes.
But you should also check the Companies Act rules for company invoices.
