I am from Australia but worked in the UK for approx 5 months.
In this time I held 2 different jobs and received a P45.
I would now like to make a tax claim or self assessment (what ever you want to call it) but after attempting to register so that I can do a self assessment online, the website (www.hmrc.gov.uk) tells me that I need a UTR in order to register.
My problem is, that I do not have one on any documentation I posses. Their site says that I will find it on my Tax Return, a
Notice to complete a Tax Return or on my Statement of Account.
I do not have ANY of these documents and I do not know where I am supposed to get it from. Are those documents something that would normaly be posted to you?
Inland Revenue never had a home address for me, so what am I supposed to do to obtain this 10 digit UTR number if it cant be posted?
Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
