Are train fares and travelcard fares vatable - should VAT be deducted when entering onto Sage or other similar accounts package.

Travel by public transport,including trains, is zero-rated.

Where you have an inclusive amount of taxable expenditure and you want to identify the VAT element you might like to try this: http://www.vatsolve.co.uk/vat_calc.htm
