purchasing 2 cottages - are they linked transations?

Postby bethcurrie on Wed Dec 05, 2007 8:58 am

Just wondered if there was any update on this case. I have a client in a similar situation purchasing 4 commercial properties from the same vendor. It's not a "deal"; they are all separate transactions at sensible valuations between £70k and £150k and it seems grossly unfair for them to be lumped in as one for SDLT - it will cost my client around £14k more than if they are treated as separate.

Can anyone advise if they have successfully argued for separate transactions in these type of circumstances?

Many thanks
Beth
