Postby sigmund » Sun May 24, 2015 8:50 pm

What methods can one use to raise the money in order to pay the IHT so as to obtain probate?

Depending on the assets, bank loan or HMRC instalments.

Thankmyou for your reply. I recall reading somewhere in the past that if NS&I bonds or premium bonds formed part of the estate that these could be transferred direct to HMRC to be used towards settlement of the IHT. Do you know if this is the case and whether it still applies?

AFAIK, the Direct Payment Scheme is still in operation.

Form IHT423 needs to be completed.
