Could anyone recommend a solicitor in Edinburgh that could help me?

Is the cost estimate for £12k plus VAT or £10k plus VAT =£12k?

In either case the cost estimate does seem very high for a scope of reviewing one IHT account (IHT 205) prepared by the executors (you and your aunt?), application for certificate of confirmation and for preparing a couple of deeds.

Is there clarity of what “this” scope of work is?

Is the solicitor who prepared deceased’s will conveniently located to you?
If not, the STEP website allows you to look up solicitors with STEP qualification located in Edinburgh.

So definitely worth getting alternative quotes. Work could all be done remotely but if Edinburgh is close by and with your current limited knowledge of the terminology involved it is probably best for your aunt and you to meet face to face with advisers at least concerning execution of deeds.
