Retrospective VAT claim

Postby HIGHHOUSE » Tue Mar 21, 2017 11:21 am

My Architect was not registered for VAT when he took on work for us.
We understood that there would be no VAT to pay.
We are not registered for VAT and a domestic client.
The Architect has now requested that we pay VAT on all his bills from the date he became liable.
Am I legally obliged to pay?
Or does it depend on the terms of the Agreement?

It depends on what was agreed when you engaged him. Is there a written contract?
