Hallo Forum,
I am about to buy a car in the UK which will be classified as a New Means of Transport (the car is new and sold directly by the manufacturer). For registration purposes in my home country it is required (or to be more precise: registration in another EU country makes it much easier to register in my home country) that the car be registered in the UK first. My understanding is that I can't register the car in my name as I do not have a valid UK address. My further understanding is, that registration nevertheless requires the payment of road tax although the car will never be used on a public road in the UK (I will pick up the car with a trailer).
The car will be picked up and exported within the month it is registered and the car will be "Statutory Off Road Notified" (SORN). Having read the V14 form (application for a refund of vehicle tax) I am not sure whether I can apply for such a refund (preferred) or whether this need to be done by the manufacturer/seller in whose name the car will first be registered.
Any advise from the experts on here would greatly be appreciated. Many thanks.
P.S. This is a re-post in the 'not-claassified' part of the forum as suggested by member generix.
