Seafarer’s Earnings Deduction - Dutch Employer

Seafarer’s Earnings Deduction - Dutch Employer

Postby ls11 on Mon May 17, 2010 6:37 pm

Hello,
I am a UK resident and currently work for at sea for a UK company Ltd and pay UK income tax and National Insurance. I claim Seafarer’s Earnings Deduction.
I have been offered a contract with a Dutch company which would mean I would be paid by them and in Euros. The job would also be at sea.
My question is, if I accept the job, would I pay Dutch or UK income tax and National Insurance and would I still be able to claim Seafarer’s Earnings Deduction?
Many thanks in advance.

I gonna say yes your UK income tax and National Insurance will claim Seafarer’s Earnings Deduction, and if you want to be sure, try to contact the agent of Seafarer.

Hi, I've found myself in a similar situation with a Dutch employer and am paying dutch income tax and national insurance at the moment, though I'm trying to get this back. Did you have any luck?
