Severance of Tenancy

Severance of Tenancy

My parents are wanting to sever tenancy on their property, however it is unregistered. How do you go about doing this? Do they have to register the land and then sever or is there an easier way? Many thanks, Charlie

There is no need to register the property if they don't want to.

SoJT is a straightforward process that we would charge £129 to complete including as visit. I'm sure, as always in this world, you can find someone to do it cheaper if you look around.

Why would your parents want to do this? I ask as we very rarely do a SoJT as a stand alone exercise but usually when writing wills for clients.

As Ian says the severance on its own will probably not achieve anything. They will need to combine this with a review of their wills. I agree with Ian that you will probably find cheaper but like a lot of things in life, cheaper is rarely better.
