Short Tax Return box 3.1 'what work do you do?'

My wife is self employed and sells online through ebay mainly and sells clothing, confectionary and also wedding items and she is also ongoing developing ranges of hand made items and hopes to go to the high street this year and open a physical shop. As she is doing 'little bits' of a variety of things at the moment she has been told to 'lump it all together' on her tax return so what does she put in this box? Also, as her business is developing it is changing course and she is focusing on the more profitable parts which vary at times of the year eg. confectionary at christmas etc. - is there a category for this type of trader?

regards

Paul

It's a very broad question and does not really need a specific answer. There isn't room to say much, so just "on-line selling" would be OK. Think of very broad self employed work descriptions, e.g. builder, insurance broker, shopkeeper, music teacher, consultant, landscape gardener, carpenter, bricklayer, accountant, solicitor etc. HMRC can't expect anything more specific than that.
