Stamp duty of transfer interest in a trust

Stamp duty of transfer interest in a trust

Postby applix on Tue Nov 30, 2010 10:26 pm

If trading Ltd co. shares are held in a trust, with one beneficiary, and that one beneficiary asks the trustees to appoint another related beneficiary to the trust, is there a stamp duty charge? It is legal or beneficial interest which crystalizes the charge or neither? In other words a change in trustee or beneificiary?

What type of trust?

Broadly:
Stamp duty - legal
stamp duty reserve tax - beneficial
