State Pension and Divorce

Postby adelante on Thu Apr 13, 2006 10:43 pm

My parents divorced last year after 40 years. I know that my mother is able to use my fathers contribution records to increase her state pension but I cannot find any information as to how that will work. Does she have to wait until he is retired ? Have tried searching the governments website with no success - any pointeer appreciated.

Have you tried www.dwp.gov.uk or www.thepensionservice.gov.uk

Your mum should apply for a pension forecast on form BR19 to ascertain what her income is likely to be .

The form is available on the pension service website.
