Sustenance allowance

Postby timerichcashpoor » Fri Jan 20, 2017 6:47 am

Good morning,

I am self employed completing my first tax return using the cash basis and simplified expenses. Of the 240 working days in the year I have spent 70 days out of the office visiting clients/prospects, the majority of these days are full days out with long vehicle or rail journeys

Is it reasonable to claim sustenance allowance for these long days out, I haven't kept receipts but wondered whether a notional amount might be acceptable, say £10 per day?

Thanks
