Would the half he gave away be valued at the date the gift was made and then the other half at date of death

it was a tennants in common agreement so discount should still apply?

how much discount could you apply?

The Revenue can chose which figure gives rise to more tax - the value of the gift (now caught) or the value now. If the latter I'm not sure the discount would apply, but otherwise 10-15%

im a bit confused.....sorry i am not sure what you mean

i thought you would use the value as at the date when the gift was made.

its a house so the prices would have gone up now.....would that not be unfair
